Samsung today officially announced its 2019 flagships Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). These pack a 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Displays respectively and are the first Samsung phones in the market with an in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner that reads the 3D contours of user’s physical fingerprint for improved anti-spoofing. Samsung claims that the fingerprint scanner on Galaxy S10 is 20% faster than normal in-display fingerprint readers.The company says that these have world’s first FIDO Alliance Biometric Component certification.
Under the hood, the devices are powered by Snapdragon 855 or Samsung Exynos 9 Series 9820 SoCs depending on the region, the Indian varient is likely to come with Exynos chip. The devices run Android 9.0 (Pie) with Samsung’s new OneUI and come with all previous Samsung perks like dedicated Bixby button, Samsung Health, Samsung Pay and Samsung DeX.
These have IP68 water and dust resistance, 3,400mAh and 4,100mAh batteries respectively with support for wired fast charging and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 as well as new Wireless PowerShare feature to charge Qi compatible devices on the back of the phones.Both have triple rear cameras with a primary 12-megapixel Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture primary sensor, 16-megapixel Ultra Wide Lens with a 123-degree field of view and a 12-megapixel Telephoto lens. These have an improved 10-megapixel Dual Pixel front-facing camera, while the S10+ also comes with secondary 8MP depth sensor for improved depth sensing.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 base variant sports 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and is priced at $899.99 (₹64,030 approx.) and the 512 GB variant is priced at $1149.99 (₹ 81,815 approx.), whereas Samsung Galaxy S10+ basic variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage comes at $999.99 (₹ 71,145 approx.) and the 512 GB variant comes at $1249.99 (₹88,930 approx.). The special edition of S10+ with 1TB (1024 GB) storage and 12 GB RAM is priced at $1599.99 (₹ 1,13,830 approx). Pre-orders will begin from February 21, 2019 in the US and several countries and will go on sale from March 8, 2019 in select markets. For a limited time in select markets, consumers who opt to pre-order the phone will get free Galaxy Buds worth $129.99 for free. Samsung has tied up with Flipkart for sales in India and the pre-orders starts at today 11 A.M onwards.
