Avoiding the ban in India, Asus is finally unveiling the Zenfone 6 as Asus 6z here in India. The company will unveil the flagship device on June 19th. Few days before The Delhi court announced the ruling as Telecare Network, a company in India has complained that it has been using Zen and ZenMobile as its product monikers since 2008. Telecare Network also said that Asus used their Zen moniker to “ride upon its goodwill” that it created in the market. The company also stated that the ZenFone branding of Asus will create “confusion in the minds of the public.” And Asus was banned to release phones under Zen branding.
The next hearing of the court is on July 10, considering the long waiting period Asus will launch their Zenfone 6 as 6z. If they delays the launch of Zenfone 6; their market presence would be lost as Redmi K20/Pro will launch in India anytime soon. We don’t know how Asus manages to change the name in their retail boxes. The pricing of the device will be competitive to OnePlus 7.
The Zenfone 6 spots a 6.6 inch FHD+ IPS LCD edge to edge display which is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. The device has an aspect ratio of 19:5:9 and it doesn’t have a notches or puch holes. This is the chip which we have seen on Mi 9, OnePlus 7/ 7 Pro. The device comes with 6/8GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB internal storage onboard which can be expanded via MicroSD card. The storage type is ufs 2.1.
Talking about optics it houses a motorized dual camera setup. It has a sony imx 586 48MP (f/1.8) primary camera sensor which is coupled with 13MP (f/2.4) Wide Angle sensor with 125 Degree. By default the camera stays at the rear, if we switch it to the front, the camera will rotate automatically to the front. The module can be set on any angle required in between 0 to 180-degrees which is really an unique touch. The angle can be set using volume key as well as a soft button from the screen. The company has also revealed results of lab test during its official launch. The camera module can survive until 100000 flips, which is converted to 28 flips every day for 5 years. However in real world usage there may be some differences.
Coming to security measures it houses a physical fingerprint sensor. The device is packed by a massive 5000mAh battery which supports QC 4.0 charging technology. It runs on Android Pie onboard which is based on ZenUi 6 which is now almost close to stock. It comes with 18W fast charger in the box.
